The new Mizuno MP R-12 Golf wedge
Mizuno introduces ther new MP R-12 Series. These are not your normal wedges! Due out in September, the Mizuno MP R-12 are designed for a player that is looking for their wedges to feel like an extension of their iron set. This is accomplished through designs that process as the loft of the wedges increases.
The stronger lofted wedges that would be used as a gap or approach wedge feature a triple cut sole design. This sole design features a beveled leading edge and feel more like a iron. However the high lofted MP R-12 wedges feature a C grind that is more traditionally found on a wedge. This grind increases a clubs versatility by providing heal and toe relief to help it perform better out of the varying lies you have as you get closer to the green including deep rough.
Muzuno engineers have also applied their knowledge of how to optimize grooves for the different type of shots played with the wedge. What they've discovered is that narrower deeper grooves produce more spin than shallower wider grooves on shots father from the green. However just the opposite is true when you get closer to the green. For this reason the stronger lofted MP R-12 wedges feature spin enhancing narrow deep grooves but the higher lofted wedges feature a modified Quad-Cut groove similar to previous models Mizuno wedges.
As always from Mizuno the wedges will be manufactured using Mizuno's proprietary grain flow forging proces and will be available in either a satin chrome or black nickel finish.
