PING’s first forged design in more than 40 years, the Anser carries the same name as one of the early models Karsten Solheim produced before he transitioned to the popular investment casting process. The newest version pushes the forging process to create performance benefits not previously associated with a forged club. The forged, multi-metal design, combines an 8620 steel body, a dense tungsten sole and machined grooves for unequalled forged-iron feel and forgiveness. Its hollow-sole cavity softens feel and positions the CG for higher-launching shots. The progressive set design offers long-iron forgiveness and short-iron control. The Ping Anser irons will be Available in 3-PW and will be fully custom fittable with a retail price of just over £1000

Stewart Golf X5 Golf Trolley

The latest trolley model from the X series is finally out. The Stewart Golf X5 Golf Trolley is specifically designed to be remote controlled, which gives golfers the convenience of a trolley during a game.

 

Unlike most trolleys, the X5 Remote Control Trolley has a wide rear wheelbase of 66cm. It has two front wheels for an increased footprint. The chassis has a built-in stabiliser.

 

The X5 Remote Control Trolley is characterised by a low and central centre of gravity which in turn gives you the stability you need. It has a unique chassis design, which places the battery in the centre of the wheelbase. It can remain stable even on the most challenging courses giving you the concentration you need to achieve a hole-in-one streak.

New Footjoy Spidr 2 Golf Gloves

A recent report on golf gear review shows that the new Footjoy glove displays that Footjoy still have the edge when it comes to golf gloves and we are looking forward to this glove being available in the new year.

The new FootJoy Spidr 2 golf glove is one of if not the best golf glove I have ever worn. The glove has what FootJoy calls DTR, which stands for Digital Tac Response leather. The leather has what looks similar to the pattern used on diving gloves. The surface has small shallow pockets, not unlike the dimples on a golf ball cover. The idea no doubt is to provide Maximum grip and Maximum control of the golf club with minimum grip pressure. While this may make for a somewhat strange looking piece of leather, what I can tell you is that the glove lives up to the claim of Max grip and Max control like no other golf glove I’ve used to date. 

The back portion of the glove they call FiberSof which helps the glove conform perfectly to your hand and fingers for better control and fit throughout your swing. In simple terms this means the glove fits like a second skin at all times during your swing and that translates to good control and consistency on every shot. 

The glove also comes with what FootJoy calls its Power Locking Closure system. The locking closure system flexes for a secure fit and a near custom feel. Again, I don’t know about the fancy terms, but what I do know is that this is the best fitting golf glove I have ever worn. 

FootJoy claims to be using cutting edge materials, construction, and design for this Spidr 2 glove. What I noticed right away was how consistent the fit of the gloves is from glove to glove. I have 3 of the Spidr 2 gloves, and each one fits exactly like the other two. This is NOT all that common with most golf gloves I’ve purchased in the past. It has become standard practice for me when buying golf gloves to try on EVERY one just to make sure the fit is correct for my hand. It has been my experience that I can try on half a dozen or more gloves before I find 3 that fit the same way, and fit the way I want them to. 

I first tried the Spidr 2 glove at the driving range. I have found that hitting a large bucket of 168 golf balls to be an excellent method for finding out just how well a glove performs, as well as how long it will last. If a glove shows any signs of wear in the first half dozen buckets of range balls, I can be pretty sure it will not last me very long on the course. What I found with the Spidr2 glove was that it looks just like it did when I first put it on. After hitting 4 large buckets of balls, it not only looked like new, it also FIT just like it did the first time I put it on. As I’m sure you know, some gloves will stretch out after a few rounds and get a bit loose on your hand. Not so with this new design. The fit was exactly the same. After playing four 18 hole rounds of golf with the same glove I use at the driving range it still looked and fit like new. I tend to be a bit hard on my golf gloves so this was an excellent indication of the quality of the materials and design of this glove. 

According to the FootJoy site, this glove is supposed to be an All Weather design, meaning it will provide good control of the club in all weather conditions. I can’t really say if this is true or not, as I didn’t get rained on at any time during my play. I guess I’ll just have to take their word on this. 

The back of each finger and the back of the glove has a thin strip of black material. The sides of the last 3 fingers is made of the same material. This black material is quite elastic and I’m sure it is partly responsible for the excellent fit of the glove, as well as making the glove breathable at the same time. During my practice sessions and rounds of golf, at no time did I find my hand getting too warm nor in any way damp due to persperration. If you have ever had a problem with your glove becoming wet during a round, you know how uncomfortable this can be. With the Spidr 2 glove this wasn’t a problem at all. 

I don’t know how much value you put in the looks of a golf glove. I’m sure it doesn’t have much if any effect on how well you will play or score. But it’s nice to be able to wear a glove that looks just as well as it performs. The three tone White/ Grey/Black trim design of this glove just plain looks like a high performance glove. Again, this may not mean much, put it can’t hurt considering how a lot of golfers find golf to be a game where confidence means almost as much as skill.
