Odyssey Putters

Odyssey is a company, which offers extensive lines of putters. One of their renowned product lines is the Odyssey Black Series, consisting of three models that have a tungsten flange at the back of the putter head. This adds weight to the rear of the head creating a low centre of gravity that is deep in the club face. This feature makes it easier for the golfer to lift the ball slightly on impact and then roll it swiftly. The upward angle hit on the putt initially helps in getting the ball rolling as the ball is faintly nestled down in the grass of the putting green.

In conjunction with the centre of gravity, works the loft of the putter face. The different loft angles for each of the three putters called as Black Series Number 1, 2, and 3, give the quickest roll possible for a given centre of gravity location in each putter head. The theory behind this being that the sooner the ball stop skidding and starts rolling after the impact, the more accurate the putt becomes. In addition, the weighted flange creates a higher moment of inertia. These putters are one of the best in the kind and cost $249 each.

The putter heads are made from 1025 carbon steel and with a mix-milled face design, indicating the proper impact area. Also, a urethane-damping layer between the carbon steel head and the flange dampens the vibrations produced.

Another Odyssey product line is the White Steel. It consists of eight putters grouped into the core and the progressive models. The Core Models have traditional blade and mallet putter designs and cost $119 each. Whereas, the Progressive Models incorporate modern technology aiding weight distribution and alignment. The defining feature of this line is the putter face with two inserts. First one is the light urethane insert. It is large and takes a considerable amount of the putter face. The lightness of the material gives the putter a softer feel at the impact, simultaneously shifting the centre of gravity of the head backwards and improving the moment of inertia. This in turn improves the accuracy. The second insert is of milled stainless steel - a machine milled and consistent flat surface improving the roll of the ball.

The third line is the Dual Force Odyssey Golf Putters. The Dual Force 2 is an improved version of the classic putter, with better design. The moment of inertia of these putters has been increased and the line is made up of three putters having one shaft offset cost of $89 each.

Ping Wedges

Ping is an American high quality golf equipment brand and one of the largest manufacturers of golf clubs. Founded by Kartsen Solheim, an engineer stationed in Phoenix, Arizona the company started in 1967 when he gave up his job at General Electrical to meet the demand of the putters made by him in his garage in California.

Ping today produces golf clubs in every equipment category, right from drivers, hybrids, fairway woods, irons, putters and wedges. This family owned company offers latest technologies and the extensive fitting process in golf. Ping is being trusted by the golfers for over 50 years and the equipment aids a lot in improving their scores and enjoy the game of golf.

Wedges are a kind of golf club, belonging to the iron family to be used in particular situations where the shots are made from the rough surface or sand. To facilitate playing on such surfaces the design of the sole of the wedge is modified to give it the greatest loft of all the clubs. This gives the wedge the ability to produce a spin on the ball. In addition, the wedges are easier to control due to a shorter shaft than other golf clubs. The wedges therefore, due to theses two design variations prove to be ideal for taking short shots. There is a variety of configurations possible in wedges including pitching wedges, sand wedges, gap or approach wedges and lob wedges.

There are many options of wedges offered by Ping, namely:
• Ping tour S Rustique wedges graphite
• Ping EYE2 XG wedge
• Ping tour S brushed silver chrome wedge steel
• Ping tour S Rustique wedges steel
• Ping tour S brushed silver chrome wedge

The Ping tour S Rustique wedges available in both steel and graphite shafts, have improved control and feel to help the player fly shots at precise distances. The re-shaped sole geometry and the machined face and sets of both non-conforming and conforming grooves give the versatility benefit for making the shot and managing the spin of the ball. It has a finish that tarnishes and rusts over time naturally. This makes its appearance a non-glary and attractive one with time.

The classic best selling EYE2 wedge from Ping got a technology upgrade for a new precision-milled face, conforming grooves and hence a precise distance control especially when playing around the greens. For delicate shots near the green or deep bunker escapes, the new EYE2 XG has perimeter weighting and sole contours to give that edge of control and forgiveness in the play. With the non-glare satin finish and a smooth professional appearance, the design also catches the eye.

Ping tour S brushed silver chrome wedge is the incisively machined wedge with the combination of the looks and quality that provides the golfer with the control, distance and the enthralling experience of golfing around the greens. It offers high spin levels in all conditions and excellent shots can be made by delicate touch.
